Our front cover photograph shows a statue of Leifur Eiríksson, the early Icelandic explorer, in front of Hallgrím's church in Reykjavik, Iceland. Reykjavik was the venue for the spring conference of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy. A report of the meeting, a session at which focussed on the potential of pharmacogenetics, appears on pp824-826.

Resale price maintenance

The case to consider whether resale price maintenance on medicines should continue will begin at the Restrictive Practices Court on October 2 (p789).

Officers' election

The election of the Society's officers is now to be done in open Council business. New procedures for the election of the President, Vice-President and Treasurer, together with their job specifications, are set out on pp796-797. Leading article (p787).
