Pharmacists win NHS fellowships

Two pharmacy practice researchers have won five-year fellowships from the National Health Service under its national research and development career scientist award programme (p5).

New smoking cessation agent

Bupropion (Zyban) has been launched by Glaxo Wellcome as an aid to smoking cessation. It is available as a prescription-only medicine on National Health Service prescription(p9)

Evidence-based rational prescribing

An original paper this week (p26) reports that rational prescribing interventions by pharmacists changes GPs' prescribing behaviour.

New horizon in self care

Self care was the subject of the third conference of the Proprietary Association of Great Britain (p31).
