Global sum increase

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee has accepted a 3 per cent increase in the global sum so that pharmacy plan discussions can begin as soon as possible (p472). Comment (p471).

Lorazepam injection

Wyeth has bowed to pressure from pharmacists and has agreed to reconsider its decision to discontinue lorazepam injection (p475).

Vantage pharmacies

AAH has unveiled a concept store in Wolverhampton showing “best practice” for its Vantage Refresh group. More are planned (p478).

The Conference

Tackling public health and budgeting for expensive new drugs were topics discussed at community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy sessions at the British Pharmaceutical Conference recently. Reports (pp492–497).

Added value

Intermediate results of projects set up in the United States and the Netherlands to demonstrate the added value of pharmacists were presented to the World Congress of Pharmacy in Vienna last month (p498).
