Front Cover Picture
The Medicines Partnership is investigating ways in which communication
between patients and health care professionals can be improved so that
patients understand why their medicines are being prescribed and why they
should take them. This weeks front cover picture (by Christopher
Icha) illustrates a news feature (PDF*
150K) that looks at pharmacists involvement in concordance initiatives
and how, with support from the Medicines Partnership, pharmacists with
an interest in concordance can develop their ideas further.
Junior doctors
Junior doctors start their new jobs this week. In a news feature (PDF*
105K) Zoë Gross investigates the extent to which they rely on hospital
pharmacists when prescribing.
Discussion paper
A discussion paper (PDF*
145K), issued by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, which asks for views
on how the elected membership of the Societys Council should be
controlled is published this week as a four-page centre pull-out with
The Journal.
Recalls
Generics (UK) has recalled a batch of
amoxicillin capsules and several batches of flucloxacillin capsules.
| The "Broad Spectrum" feature is
open to any writer.
Contributions of around 1,200 words, commenting on topics of current
interest, should be sent to managing editor Graeme Smith (graeme.smith@pharmj.org.uk)
for consideration. |
