Front Cover Picture
Almost 50 per cent of all isolates of Staphylococcus aureus (front cover picture) are resistant to methicillin. In a news feature, Harriet Adcock looks at the problem of resistance to anti-infectives and investigates whether the pharmaceutical industry will come up with new therapies to help tackle the situation or whether things have been left too late (p599).

Aspirin use in under 16s
The Medicines Control Agency has announced that restrictions on aspirin are to be further tightened (p593).

Pharmacy technicians
In the light of the Department of Health report on skill mix, Jonathan Buisson looks at registration of pharmacy technicians in terms of who might be registered, with whom and how it might work. News feature (p601).

West Nile Virus
Continuing our occasional series on rare diseases from which travellers may be at risk, an article describes West Nile Virus, how it reached the United States and the consequences for public health (p617).

Attitudes towards CPD
Research from Liverpool shows that although there is acceptance among the profession that continuing professional development is essential, there are significant differences in attitudes between sub-groups of pharmacists towards future proposals for CPD (p618).
