Front Cover Picture
This weeks front cover picture (by Christopher Icha) illustrates
the launch of a campaign by The Journal in support of the use of patient
packs. Over the next three weeks, The Journal will run a series of articles,
each looking at the use of patient packs from a different perspective.
To introduce the series, Jonathan Buisson takes a look at the convoluted
history of patient packs. Two articles then give the views
of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the pharmaceutical
industry . Leading
article.
Vitamins and minerals
There was considerable media interest last week in the safety of vitamin
and mineral supplements. A news
feature looks at the final report of the Expert Group on Vitamins
and Minerals, which has made recommendations on 31 vitamins and minerals.
Cholesterol control
An article
in our continuing professional development series on heart disease discusses
lipid-lowering strategies in patients with established coronary heart
disease or in those at a high risk of developing CHD.
Councils CPD decisions
The Council has agreed a number of proposals relating to continuing professional
development: the register is to be reconstructed into active
and inactive parts and inactive members can continue
to call themselves pharmacists. Leading
