Our front cover picture has been chosen to alert readers to the fact that the results of
the first-past-the-post election of seven members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Council
are now in. Three current members of Council who stood for re-election, including the Treasurer,
have been ousted by three of the candidates who stood for election under a “Save Our Society” banner

Patient packs campaign
Our campaign for the use of patient packs continues
this week with a further four articles: one from a community pharmacist, one from a general practitioner
and two from patient organisations
Annual general meeting
This week we report the proceedings of the
annual general meeting of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society which took place on 14 May. Treasurer’s
report (p731). At the meeting, a motion was passed which called on the Council to seek a referendum
before proceeding to seek
charitable status for the Society (p732).
