Lyons On August 30, Frederick Arthur (Peter) Lyons, MRPharmS, of 20 Collingwood Road, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 2QW. Mr Lyons registered in 1935. Before the 1939-45 war, he worked for Boots in Piccadilly Circus, Hounslow and New Malden. After the war, he managed branches at Fulham Broadway, Westminster and Wigmore Street. He was subsequently a relief manager in South West London until he retired in the mid-1980s.

Mitchell On August 16, George Jesse Howe Mitchell, MRPharmS, of 6 Trevor Grove, Cleadon, Sunderland SR6 7UE. Mr Mitchell registered in 1949.
Mr UMESH PATEL writes: Mr Mitchell qualified in Sunderland and was very pleased to receive a letter from the President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society recently to congratulate him on his 50 years on the Society's Register. This letter was shown to him while he was in hospital. He was very proud of our Society.
Many pharmacists in Sunderland and the north-east will recall his cheerful, helpful and kind nature. He was certainly like a family member to us and like a grandfather to my children, who will always cherish his memories in their lives. He taught them good manners, to be kind and helpful to others and attended all the school functions and events; even the school staff called him "Uncle George" and had a lot of respect for him.
He trained many pharmacists — one was the Society's immediate past President, Mr Hemant Patel. The local branch will miss his help in posting the branch mail, which he always volunteered to do. Many members of the local branch were sad to learn of his death and have passed their messages of sympathy to his wife Margaret.
