Boots the Chemists Ltd is planning to open around 160 new edge-of-town stores over the next five years, taking the number in the chain to 200.
Speaking at a presentation to analysts at the company's new head offices in Nottingham on September 22, Mr Steve Russell (managing director, Boots) said that the new stores would be in addition to the existing portfolio of high street stores.
He predicted that by 2005 more than 10 per cent of Boots's sales could come through mail order catalogues and e-commerce.
