From Mr A. Cassell, MRPharmS
SIR,—May I join a growing body of pharmacists in support of Messrs Patel and Boorman and commend them for their courage in expressing their views in their open letter to the Secretary of State for Health (PJ, September 4, p361). I am, however, concerned that their voices will not be heard and their efforts wasted if they do not receive our full support. Remember that many of us have already written to Frank Dobson, at his own request, and have received back only the briefest of acknowledgments. We must all now urge our own MPs to ask for a response to Mr Patel and Mr Boorman. Every pharmacist has access to a copy of the letter, so they should send it to their MPs now. Their political colour does not matter. Only when every ear in Westminster has heard of our plight do we move from a stance of being moaners to being a seriously discontented profession, overlooked but worthy of further consideration. We are running out of good opportunities, so pharmacists should lend this letter their support and let their voice be heard where it matters.
