The Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, the National Pharmaceutical Association and the Company Chemists' Association are jointly hosting an exhibition stand at the Labour Party conference in Bournemouth from September 26 to October 1.
Mr Jean-Pierre Moser (public relations manager, the Society) told The Journal on September 21 that the stand provided an opportunity to put the pharmacy message across in a political arena.
The conference is to be used to launch a new joint brochure about what pharmacists can do, called "Right up your street". The brochure highlights the strengths and benefits of community pharmacy and the heath care that pharmacists can deliver.
The stand is to be manned by a team of community pharmacists who, it is hoped, will provide advice and information to conference participants on health matters and promote the value of community pharmacy in the new National Health Service.
There is also to be a competition and a daily prize draw conferring free membership of David Lloyd leisure clubs, along with materials to be given away.
