Ranitidine becomes a general sale list medicine on September 30.
From that date, packs of up to 12 ranitidine hydrochloride 75mg tablets can be sold by any retailer, with a maximum daily dose od 150mg.
Three other changes to the general sale list also come into effect on September 30. The GSL indications for ibuprofen applied externally are to be altered to include backache; the maximum strength of zinc sulphate for external use is to increased from 0.25 per cent to 1 per cent; and the maximum strength of products containing lignocaine sulphate for external use in adults and children aged over 12 years (except ophthalmic use and sprays) is to be increased to 2 per cent.
