BASF, which bought Boots Pharmaceuticals from the Boots Company in 1995, is to close the Beeston, Nottingham, site that came with the deal. About 230 jobs are to be lost, beginning early next year. BASF announced on September 30 that the closure decision followed a business review and had been taken because of "difficult trading conditions and market pressure".
BASF's Beeston location is an enclave within Boots's Beeston site.
