Scottish generics changes

The Scottish system for addressing shortages of generic medicines has changed. From October 1, contractors prescription endorsements for medicines obtained from the top five suppliers have not been accepted by the National Health Service for pricing purposes.
Instead, entries for patient packs, as well as bulk packs of generics have been included in the Scottish Drug Tariff. Contractors will be reimbursed according to endorsements which show whether they dispensed from bulk or used patient packs. In the absence of any endorsement, reimbursement will be at the bulk pack price.
