THE Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Pharmaceutical Sciences Group, in association with Middlesex university, is to hold a two-day conference on "Traditional Chinese medicine" at the Society's headquarters, London, on October 25 and 26.
The conference will address various issues relating to traditional Chinese medicine. Its aim is to provide an overview of the place of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of disease.
The first morning will begin with a paper offering a Western perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, followed by papers on quality and authentication, on safety aspects and on a clinical trial of TCM in hepatitis C. The afternoon session will look at the views of interested parties, with papers from representatives of the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Medicines Control Agency, the Royal College of Nursing and the Confederation of National Health Service Trusts. The second day will be devoted to papers on research aspects of traditional Chinese medicine.
The registration fee for the meeting, which includes refreshments and documentation, is £150 for pharmacists, other members of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Group and Middlesex university representatives and £180 for others. Bona fide students may attend for a fee of £30 (excluding lunches).
