Biomatrix says that Synvisc (hylan G-F 20), an intra-articular synovial fluid replacement injection, can now be prescribed on the NHS and is included in the October edition of the Drug Tariff. The company says that Synvisc relieves pain and immobility associated with osteoarthritis of the knee and is ideal for those who do not respond to more conservative methods of osteoarthritis management. One complete patient treatment pack contains 3 x 2ml pre-filled syringes and a package insert (net price £205).
