Welsh Executive

Discussion document on contraception and sexual health

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Welsh Executive has published a discussion document on contraception and sexual health.
Derived from a similar document published in London earlier in the year (PJ, July 17, p82), the document is specifically geared to circumstances in Wales. Its aim is to help formulate a policy to ensure that, in the public interest, pharmacy contributes as effectively as possible to contraception and sexual health care improvement. The document summarises the challenges facing the National Health Service and indicates how pharmacists can make an even greater contribution towards achieving the goals shared by the NHS and the profession.
In a foreword, the Welsh Executive chairman (Mr Colin Ranshaw) says that, through the National Assembly for Wales and local joint working, the profession in Wales has an excellent opportunity to develop policies and services that meet the needs of the people in Wales.
The document has been distributed widely. Recipients include members and officials of the National Assembly, health organisations across Wales and other relevant individuals and organisations.
