Crookes Healthcare has launched Strepsils cough lozenges. The pharmacy-only product has a natural blackcurrant flavour and contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide 2.5mg, sucrose, glucose syrup, levomenthol, anise oil, strong capsicum tincture and anthocyanin. It is indicated for the relief of dry, tickly coughs. Adults and children over 12 years may dissolve one lozenge in the mouth as required, but no more than 10 in 24 hours. Children aged six to 12 years may suck one lozenge when the cough is troublesome, but not more than two lozenges within four hours and not more than seven in 24 hours (net price, 24 lozenges x 12 £19.08, 4 lozenges x 12 £3.75; retail price, 24 £2.49, 4 49p).
