Composition: Metronidazole 0.75 per cent w/w.
Presentation: Gel.
Storage and stability: Store at room temperature below 25C. Do not refrigerate.
Action: Most likely mechanism is combined immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory activity.
Indications: Treatment of acute inflammatory exacerbations of acne rosacea.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Dosage and administration: Adults, including the elderly, apply to the affected skin of the face in a thin film twice daily for eight to nine weeks. Further applications may be necessary depending on the severity of the condition. Children, use is not recommended.
Pregnancy and lactation, it is recommended that the use of the gel is avoided.
Overdosage: Not applicable.
Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes. If eye contact does occur, wash out carefully with water. Avoid drinking alcohol while using the gel.
Drug interactions: There is evidence to suggest that systemic absorption of metronidazole after topical application is negligible.
Side effects: Dryness or irritation of the skin may be experienced by some patients after application.
