Mr G. C. B. SMALLWOOD writes: It was with great sadness that I received the news of Ray's sudden and untimely death, two years into retirement in which he intended to pursue those interests that had been held in abeyance during his days of practice in management and as a consultant pharmacist in stores located in and around London for Boots the Chemists. My deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Alma, son Nicholas and daughter Jane and their families. Ray was a stalwart member of the Croydon branch and was a committee member for nine years from 1984 to 1992. He represented the branch on the South East region committee over those years, with a break in 1988-89 when he served as branch chairman. Ray also served as regional representative on the Boots Pharmacists' Association executivefor three years from 1990. His ability to stimulate debate and to home onto professional concerns was a great asset to have on the committees and it was much appreciated. When he left active committee work, he continued to support both the branch and the association and his counsel will be sorely missed.
