Pfizer prize Professor Sir Philip Cohen has been awarded the 1999 Pfizer prize for innovative science. The prize, worth £50,000, recognises Professor Cohen's research into protein phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, processes known to be involved in a number of major disease areas, including cancer, diabetes and inflammatory disorders. Professor Cohen is Royal Society research professor, director of the Medical Reseach Council protein phosphorylation unit and director of the Wellcome Trust building at the University of Dundee. He received his prize at a ceremony at the Science Museum, London, on October 19.
