Further to a number of inquiries, Schering-Plough says that ribavirin and tribavirin are different names for the active ingredient in Rebetol but are identical. The company uses the recommended international non-proprietary name (rINN), ribavirin, for Rebetol, whereas some publications, such as MIMS, use the British approved name (BAN), tribavirin.
