NHS "ready for the millennium"

The National Health Service has declared itself "ready for the millennium" so far as computer services are concerned.
On October 20, the Department of Health said that all NHS organisations were now classed "blue" on the Action 2000 traffic light scale of computer readiness. A blue rating means that assessment has not identified any risk of material disruption.
The NHS has been working towards millennium compliance for over three years.
The Department's NHS planning director said at a press conference: "Over 300,000 different types of critical equipment and systems have been checked throughout hospitals, general medical practitioner surgeries and elsewhere within the service."
