What claims to be the world's first farm for transgenic cattle has been opened at Vienna, Wisconsin, in the United States of America.
Operated by a Dutch company, Pharming Group, NV, the farm will be used to "generate small herds of transgenic, exclusively female animals, without breeding."
The genetically manipulated animals will be used to produce human proteins, such as fibrinogen and factor VIII in their milk.
