Superskin, a liquid which polymerises to form a flexible barrier film on contact with skin, is now available on prescription. The manufacturer Medlogic Global Ltd says that the product dries to form a water-resistant barrier, lasting up to 48 hours, which protects "at risk" skin from the damaging effects of friction and moisture. Superskin can be applied around stomas, wound sites and other areas where skin breakdown is likely to occur.
