New publication for students and preregistration trainees

A new annual publication for pharmacy students and preregistration trainees, Tomorrow's Pharmacist, has been launched by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. It offers a broad range of articles designed to be of value to pharmacy students, to preregistration trainees and to newly registered pharmacists.
The 84-page publication includes articles giving advice on choosing a career in pharmacy and on landing one's first post, including how to handle job interviews. Other articles explain what it means to be a professional and how to communicate effectively with patients.
Emphasising the fact that studying should remain a vital part of a pharmacist's career, further articles give advice on reading and study skills, on how to participate in continuing education, on obtaining a postgraduate qualification, and on the importance of continuing professional development.
Several articles have been written by students, providing first hand experience of what it was like to complete their preregistration year in a variety of settings as well as describing student holiday work and overseas exchange visits.
For reference, there is also information on the organisation of the Society, the British Pharmaceutical Students Association, the National Health Service and the United Kingdom's pharmacy services.
Tomorrow's Pharmacist has been edited by Dr Pamela Mason and produced within the editorial department of The Pharmaceutical Journal. Copies are being sent free to pharmacy students in schools of pharmacy in Britain and to preregistration trainees. A limited number of copies are available for purchase at £5 (including United Kingdom postage and packaging). Orders should be sent to the Pharmaceutical Press, PO Box 151, Wallingford, Oxfordshire OX10 8QU (tel 01491 829272; fax 01491 829292; e-mail rpsgb@cabi.org).
