Ferring Pharmaceuticals is launching Pentasa sachets, which contain prolonged release granules of mesalazine 1g. The sachets will be available later this month and are indicated for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis but contraindicated in children under 12 years. The recommended dose for active disease is up to 4g daily in two to four divided doses and for maintenance treatment is 2g daily in two divided doses.
