An article in the Times newspaper (November 2) noted that a report on the successful use of a new zinc nasal spray for treating the common cold was to be published in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC).
When The Journal attempted to follow up the article, the editor of the AJIC said on November 4 that "based on the pre-release of data and related issues not in compliance with the established policies of the journal, we have withdrawn the manuscript from publication."
