From Mr M.J. Kreindler, MRPharmS
SIR,—The article on the Disability Discrimination Act and accessibility of premises (PJ, October 30, p716) gave a concise description of this important legislation.
I am an employee pharmacist working for a UK multiple and have disability (most seriously reduced mobility) that affects my daily activity.
I am currently working with the company to adapt the pharmacy premises in the light of my reduced mobility.
I would advise people with impairments that necessitate adaptation to their employment, to seek support and advice from Employment Services (specifically a disability employment adviser) and a relevant therapist who can explain their needs to the employer.
Surely if pharmacy complies with legislation and visibly enables employees with disability to work, this underlines the place of our profession as an accessible agent of health care in the community.
