Ashwin Tanna - mayor of London?

photo of Ashwin Tanna Mr Ashwin Tanna, a former member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council, is seeking nomination as an independent candidate in next year's election of a mayor for London. He needs the support of 10 people from each of the 33 London boroughs and would like any pharmacists who are willing to act as nominators to call him on 020 8693 1717.
"I feel that London should be run by a non-politician, by a totally independent candidate," Mr Tanna told The Journal on November 8. "I cannot believe any politician when they say that he or she is going to run London independently from party politics."
Mr Tanna has already produced posters at his own expense to support his campaign and has submitted his manifesto for printing. He is also to fund the £10,000 deposit necessary to stand for election. He will forfeit the deposit if he fails to achieve 5 per cent of the vote.
