Caverject syringe

The syringe for Caverject (alprostadil) intracavernosal injection has been improved, says Pharmacia & Upjohn. The company says that the needle should be screwed, rather than pushed, onto the syringe. The syringe will also be fitted with a tamper-proof, sealed cap. Instructions for patients on how to use the new syringe will be provided by the patient information leaflet. The new syringes will be phased in. Current packs should still be dispensed and not returned to wholesalers, unless otherwise faulty.
