Workforce

Many "white" peoples

From Mr J. A. Sobczuk, MRPharmS

SIR,—The "Broad Spectrum" article in The Journal of November 6 (p747), though making many valid and interesting points concerning the workforce problems, and having made an intense attempt at political correctness, failed in one telling phrase, namely, "between white and ethnic minority".
As an individual of Polish descent I do not consider myself as having the same ethnic origins as an English, a French or a North American person or in fact many "white" peoples.
I have in my time suffered discrimination in my attempts to advance my career, no doubt had promotion denied and have had my family suffer, even today, abuse because of my "ethnic origins". This fixation of lumping white together merely continues the Government's attempts to simplify and possibly hide problems within our diverse population.
