Assistant director for CPPE

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education has appointed Mr Robert Swallow, MRPharmS, as assistant director for education development.
The assistant director position is a new post with responsibility for developing courses on pharmaceutical care in the community, together with multiprofessional education. Mr Swallow will also be responsible for creating links between CPPE programmes and postgraduate qualifications.
Mr Swallow has been a clinical pharmacist at St James's hospital, Leeds, and was involved in the development of Leeds university's MEd course in clinical pharmacy teaching. He also researched patients' concerns about their medicines.
He told The Journal on November 16: "All pharmacists must face the challenge of providing pharmaceutical care in their practice settings to enable patients to derive optimum benefit from their medicines. Through my research, I find that patients often feel that their medicines-related issues are not always properly addressed in either primary or secondary care. The CPPE is in a prime position to target all practising pharmacists with the education necessary to enable them to rectify that deficiency."
