Okacyn eye-drops

Composition: Lomefloxacin (as hydrochloride) 3mg/ml.
Presentation: Eye-drops.
Storage and stability: Store below 25C.
Action: Specific bacterial gyrase (topoisomerase II) inhibitor. Lomefloxacin is a difluorinated quinolone broad spectrum antibiotic.
Indications: Acute bacterial conjunctivitis.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or to other quinolones.
Dosage and administration: Adults, elderly and children, a loading dose of one drop every five minutes for 20 minutes (five doses), followed by a maintenance dosing schedule of one drop twice a day for seven to nine days.
Pregnancy, no experience regarding safety in human pregnancy or lactation and administration is not recommended, except for compelling reasons.
Precautions: Long term treatment with antibiotics may enhance development of secondary fungal infections or may support growth of non-susceptible bacteria. Contact lenses should not be worn in the presence of infectious eye diseases and the product should not be instilled while wearing contact lenses.
Drug interactions: None reported to date.
Side effects: In clinical studies, side effects included a mild transient burning sensation after instillation in approximately 6 per cent of patients. Rarely, allergy/ hypersensitivity reactions.
