From Mr K. W. Youings, FRPharmS
SIR,—I write with reference to Mr Kent's letter (PJ, November 13, p783) concerning membership of the Council by those no longer working as pharmacists.
Mr Kent should know that every registered pharmacist has the right to aspire to serve on the Council, subject to proper nomination. Provided that sufficient electoral support is forthcoming, it is right that he or she should serve.
Is Mr Kent aware that the Privy Council already appoints non-pharmacists as Members of Council? There is no doubt that they serve a most valuable function.
Sir, sometimes I think it should be mandatory to state the date of registration when writing to you, so that readers can judge whether your correspondents are guided by experience or naivety.
