Awards

Glaxo Wellcome award Applications are invited by the Pharmaceutical Sciences Group of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Glaxo Wellcome for the 2000 Glaxo Wellcome International Achievement award. The award is given annually to individuals, or teams of up to six researchers, who have demonstrated through published work over the past three years a substantial advancement in the application of scientific knowledge within the pharmaceutical sciences. The award is open to researchers or teams in academia, industry, public service or any other scientific establishment. The award consists of a cheque for £1,000 together with reimbursement of expenses for attendance at the British Pharmaceutical Conference in 2000 for the successful applicant or team leader to give a lecture on their subject. Nominations by, or on behalf of, suitable candidates require a curriculum vitae of the principal researcher, and summary CVs of other team members, together with a summary of not more than 1,000 words of their published work over the past three years and its importance to the pharmaceutical industry. Applications should be sent, by post only, by January 14, 2000, to the Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Group, Room 406, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN.

Schering award The College of Pharmacy Practice is seeking nominations for its 1999 Schering award. The award is made annually to a pharmacist who has made an outstanding contribution to pharmacy practice. Nominations can be made in writing to the chief executive of the college, Mr Michael Lucas, at Barclays Venture Centre, University of Warwick Science Park, Sir William Lyons Road, Coventry CV4 7EZ, by December 31.
