Galen makes £40m investment

Galen Holdings Plc is to invest almost £40m at its plants at Craigavon and Larne, Northern Ireland, creating 300 new jobs over the next three years.
As part of the £39.7m expansion plans, which have been backed by £10.4m of Government funding, 51 new jobs will be created at the Syngal division at Craigavon, which provides pharmaceutical synthesis and chemical technology services, and 53 new jobs at Larne, where a new intravaginal ring drug delivery system is to be made.
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (Mr Peter Mandelson) welcomed the investment, saying that it would "further enhance this important locally-owned company's relationships with universities and provide significant opportunities for graduates and researchers".
