The licensed indication for Nasonex (mometasone furoate) has been extended to include children aged six to 11 years (see p924). In a recent randomised, double-blind, multicentre study, 98 patients aged between three and nine years with perennial rhinitis were treated with mometasone furoate aqueous nasal spray 100mg once daily or placebo for one year. Height was measured at baseline and weeks four, eight, 12, 26, 39 and 52. The nasal spray was found to be well tolerated with no retardation of growth (Journal of Clinical Immunology 1999;S52:P31B).
