The President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (Mrs Christine Glover) recently paid a visit to the Glasgow pharmacy that is to offer free pharmaceutical care to selected patients (PJ, November 13, p771). Accompanied by the secretary of the Society's Scottish Executive (Dr Sheila Stevens), the President visited Abbey Pharmacy, at Trongate, on November 23.
The visitors were shown round the premises by the proprietor (Mr Asgher Mohammed) and manager (Miss Annamarie McGregor), who explained how patient medication records are being used to identify those patients most likely to benefit from closer attention to their medication. Initially the free service will be offered to patients with hypertension and ischaemic heart disease, which are major problems in the west of Scotland.
The photograph shows, left to right, Dr Stevens, Miss McGregor, the President and Mr Mohammed in the room set aside for the pharmaceutical care programme.
