A pharmacist who has reconstructed an Edwardian pharmacy at his home in order to display his collection of pharmaceutical antiques is to feature on the Channel 4 programme Collectors' Lot.
Mr Malcolm Jones, a store manager with Boots the Chemists Ltd at Romford, Essex, told The Journal on December 7 that he had started his collection about 30 years ago when he was at Manchester university. Over the years he had continued collecting and now had a substantial number of bottles, carboys, chemists rounds and other items.
He acquired fittings, including a drug run and counter, from a pharmacy in west Wales about five years ago. These had been reassembled in a room attached to the garage at his home, giving a suitable location to display his collection.
Mr Jones said that he would be willing to arrange private viewings of his collection for other collectors. He can be contacted on 01708 768017. The programme featuring Mr Jones is scheduled to be transmitted on December 22 at 3.30pm.
