Members of Parliament are calling in a Parliamentary early-day motion for hormonal emergency contraception to be made available from community pharmacies.
The motion says that emergency contraception could make a significant contribution to the reduction of unwanted pregnancies, but that its prescription-only status stops women obtaining it easily. Signatories to the motion call for pharmacy prescription of emergency contraception to be implemented as soon as possible.
The motion had been signed by 35 MPs, as The Journal went to press.
