Lothian pharmacy fayre

Pharmacists in Lothian attended a pharmacy fayre on November 24, organised by the Lothian area pharmaceutical committee and held at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Scottish offices in Edinburgh.
Mrs Pat Murray (chief pharmacist, Lothian primary care NHS trust), one of the event's organisers, told The Journal on December 7 that the trust structure in Lothian had been reorganised from six trusts to three. The pharmacy fayre was a way of bringing together pharmacists and other health care professionals with whom they worked to raise awareness of the new structure and the groups within it which affected pharmacy.

Invitations had been sent out to all community and hospital pharmacists in the region encouraging them to attend and to present posters detailing work which they were involved with.
Invitations were also sent to pharmacy bodies, including the Society, the chemist contractors committee and the Lothian pharmacy practice group, and to representatives of nurse prescribers, the University of Strathclyde and the drug evaluation panel of Lothian health board.
At the meeting, those attending were able to view the posters. They also heard a presentation from Mrs Pamela Warrington (deputy chief pharmacist for Scotland), who outlined the place for pharmacy in relation to the development of the National Health Service in Scotland. She emphasised the need for trust chief pharmacists to make sure that the pharmaceutical services they provided met the requirements of clinical governance.
