Top marks for Portsmouth school

Teaching at Portsmouth university's School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences has been awarded maximum marks after a quality assessment by the Government's Quality Assurance Agency. All aspects of the department's teaching were described as "excellent".
After a four-day review from November 29 to December 2, the assessment panel decided that the university's provision in pharmacy, pharmacology and biomedical sciences was excellent in all six areas that it investigated. The pharmacy courses reviewed were the master's degree in pharmacy, the postgraduate diploma (PgD)/ MSc in community pharmacy and the PgD/MSc in clinical pharmacy.
The 24 score for teaching supplements a 4 rating in research (work mainly of national and international standing) achieved by the school in a research assessment exercise in 1996.
