Mr Ian Mullen, MRPharmS, has been elected first chairman of the newly formed Scottish NHS Chairmen's Group. The organisation comprises the chairmen of the 28 National Health Service trusts and 15 health boards in Scotland. Mr Mullen will hold the post for two years from January, 2000. Mr Mullen was previously chairman of the Scottish NHS Trust Chairmen's Group and is chairman of Forth Valley Acute Hospitals NHS trust.
Miss Elizabeth Hayward, MRPharmS, has been awarded the Paediatric Oncology Pharmacists Group 1999 research award to complete and present research undertaken at St James's hospital, Leeds, where she is conducting a dose finding study of once-daily administration of tobramicin in children with fever and neutropenia. Miss Alison Hole, MRPharmS, of the Royal Marsden hospital, has received the group's 1999 poster award for work undertaken on assessing the information needs of pharmacists at hospitals caring for shared care paediatric oncology patients.
Mr Stephen Bazire, MRPharmS, has been elected chairman of the UK Psychiatric Pharmacy Group and Mrs Celia Feetam, MRPharmS, vice-chairman.
