Merck Consumer Health is launching Actal Pastils for the symptomatic relief ofheartburn and acid-induced gastric complaints. The product contains hydrotalcite and is formulated as a caramel-flavoured chewable soft gum which dissolves in the mouth, says the company. One to two Actil Pastils should be taken several times a day - between meals, before going to bed or when symptoms occur - up to a maximum of eight daily. The pharmacy-only licensed formulation is not recommended for infants and children under the age of 13 (retail price, 20 £2.15).
