The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry has launched the electronic version of its medicines compendium on a website for health care professionals (www.emc.vhn.net).
The site contains summaries of product characteristics for 2,500 medicines and is to be expanded to cover patient information leaflets at a later date. The ABPI described the site as "a constantly updated, authoritative and trustworthy source of information about medicines licensed for use in the United Kingdom". The electronic medicines compendium will be made available to the public in the new year.
