The first pharmacy recruitment advertising awards for community and hospital pharmacy were presented during the Pharmacy Live and Pharmacy Careers Fair exhibition, held in London on November 28 and 29. All recruitment advertising appearing before then in The Pharmaceutical Journal in 1999 was considered by the judging panel. The winner in the community category was Lloyds Pharmacy, with Superdrug, Boots the Chemists and Tesco being highly commended. The winner in the hospital category was Havering hospitals, with the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS trust being highly commended. The judging panel consisted of Mr Douglas Simpson (editor, The Pharmaceutical Journal), Mr Charles Fry (director of publications, Royal Pharmaceutical Society) and Mr Christopher Leonard-Morgan (organiser, Pharmacy Live). The photograph shows Ms Trish Horton (pharmacist recruitment manager, Lloyds) receiving the community award and a bottle of champagne from Mr Fry
