Mr Barron served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the 1939-45 war, before continuing his career working in Edinburgh, his home city. He married in 1950 and moved to Larbert, Stirlingshire, where he managed the Camelon Pharmacy for Falkirk and District Co-operative for 15 years. In 1965, he moved his family to Buckhaven, Fife, where he was appointed manager of T. W. Buchanan's pharmacy in Methil until his retirement in 1981.

Bowen On November 30, Janet Anne Bowen, MRPharmS, of Flat D, 2 Victoria Quadrant, Weston-Super-Mare, Avon BS23 2QB. Miss Bowen registered in 1957.

Moseley On December 1, Alfred Henry Moseley, FRPharmS, of 49 Portland Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 9HS. Mr Moseley registered in 1938.
Mr F. WALE and Mr J. F. FOSTER write: It was with great sorrow that we learnt of the death our friend and erstwhile colleague Alf Moseley at the age of 84. Alf was born, educated and spent the whole of his professional life in Birmingham as a proprietor pharmacist in Hay Mills. He was well-liked and respected by the local medical practitioners and the public in general who often sought his professional advice.
He took a very active interest in local pharmaceutical politics and activities, serving as secretary of the then local National Pharmaceutical Union branch, and also for many years as a member, and later secretary, of the Birmingham local pharmaceutical committee. He was also a committee member of the local branch of the Society and regularly attended the Society's conferences and branch representatives' meetings. For his services to pharmacy he was designated a fellow of the Society in 1987.
While secretary of the local NPU branch, he became aware of the successful founding of Associated Chemists (Wicker) Ltd in Sheffield, thus leading him to become the first secretary in the founding of Associated Chemists (B'ham) Ltd.
Alf, after his retirement, enjoyed several happy years travelling abroad on holiday. Our sympathies go out to his family, who tended him with loving care during his last illness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Parr On December 1, Peter John Parr, FRPharmS, of 52 St Albans Avenue, Bournemouth, Dorset BH8 9EQ. Mr Parr registered in 1952.

Swallow In a tribute to the late Wilfred Swallow (PJ, December 4, p895), Mr J. ERIC COCKING writes: I first met Wilf Swallow in 1940 when he was appointed chief pharmacist at the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal hospital. He had a quiet and unassuming character but an inquiring mind and he made several contributions to The Journal. His depth of knowledge was much appreciated by his hospital staff and by the local community pharmacists.
The late T. D. Whittet, one-time assistant pharmacist at Chesterfield, found Wilf's approach to hospital pharmacy most stimulating and helpful in his own researches.
After his retirement from Chesterfield, Wilf worked part-time at the Royal Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield until he was 70.

Varley On November 28, Athol Edmund Varley, MRPharmS, of 49 Alexandra Court, Bridlington, North Humberside YO15 2LB. Mr Varley registered in 1935.
