A new issue of Connect, the quarterly newsletter devoted to concordance in medicine taking, has now been published by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. It includes an interview with the chairman of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (Sir Michael Rawlins), a report of a meeting on the implications of improved concordance for national health policy, and a review of controversial Government proposals for compulsory treatment of people with severe mental illness.
Connect is produced by the concordance co-ordinating group, which was set up by the Society in the autumn of 1998, to take forward the report "From compliance to concordance" and to keep interested parties up to date with developments in concordance. The newsletter is supported by an educational grant from Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd.
Connect is sent to people who have expressed an interest in the Society's concordance project. Pharmacists wishing to be added to the mailing list should contact Ms Miriam Harris, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Department MH/BH, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN (tel 020 7735 9141 ext 406; fax 020 7582 4985; e-mail mharris@rpsgb.org.uk).
