Composition: Oestradiol hemihydrate (equivalent to estradiol 1mg) and dydrogesterone 5mg.
Presentation: Salmon-colour-ed, film-coated tablets.
Storage and stability: Do not store above 30C and keep container in outer carton.
Action: Oestrodiol provides oestrogen replacement and dydrogesterone provides protection against oestrogen-induced increased risk of endometrial hyperplasia and/or carcinoma.
Indications: Hormone replacement therapy for the relief of menopausal symptoms in women with a uterus and who are more than 12 months postmenopause. Prophylaxis of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women with a uterus at risk of developing fractures.
Contraindications: As for other oestradiol and dydrogesterone-containing HRT preparations. See SPC for details.
Dosage and administration: Adults, including the elderly, one tablet daily without a break between packs. Femoston-conti should not be used in children or premenopausal women.
Overdosage: If discovered within two to three hours and the overdose is so large that treatment seems desirable, gastric lavage can be safely used. Further treatment should be symptomatic.

Drug interactions: Liver enzyme inducing drugs may reduce the effect of oestrogen. Interactions are documented for barbiturates, phenytoin, rifampicin, carbamazepine. None known for dydrogesterone.
